Teenage Suicide
In "romeo and Juliet""A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life; whose misadventured piteous overthrows doth with their death bury their parents' strife." -Chorus, Prologue Lines: 6-8
a tragic end, finally puts a stop to verona's violenceThe ending to all of Verona's violence was a long and tragic one, but it was what had to be done to finally end this hatred. As it turns out, young Romeo and Juliet had fallen deeply in love at Capulet's party. They kept this love secret to all those around them except their nurse and trusted friar. They were secretly married without the knowledge of their families and soon afterwards, Romeo was banished. When Romeo was gone, Lord Capulet put marraige upon Juliet to County Paris. Juliet was against this, but her parents would not hear of it. She wanted to get out of the mess entirely, by killing herself, but she went to that trusted friar for help. He, then prescribed a sleeping potion that would make her appear dead the morning of her wedding day. Then after she was put in her tomb, she would awake and Romeo would rescue her to go run away. This plan did not work out at all. When Juliet was found "dead" that morning, word spread quickly. One of Romeo's men went to give Romeo the news of his lady's "death" and that news got to him before Friar Lawrence's which said that all of her death was a lie and he had to come get her. Romeo was so upset that he had a set plan he was not afraid to fufill. He was heading straight to Juliet's tomb to kill himself so that they may rest together, eternally. Yet did he know, Juliet wasn't actually dead. Romeo got to the tomb and encountered County Paris there. They fought, and Paris was killed. Then, Romeo went into the tomb and killed himself right next to Juliet. She woke up shortly after, and she was dazed. When she found Romeo dead, next to her, she paniced and killed herself with his dagger. All of these bodies were found by the two familes afterwards and the friar shared what had occured between them. Capulet and Montague, set their differences aside and offered peace to one another for the first time. The violence was finally seized after the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.

Northwest Suburbs Grappling With Teen SuicidesIt’s become a crisis in the far northwest suburbs: teen after teen taking their
own lives. But they’re fighting that trend with education and a little help from a celebrity. CBS 2’s Dana Kozlov reports. It’s been two months since Lucy Rodriguez’s 14-year-old daughter, Cynthia, killed herself in a park near their Crystal Lake home. “That’s what hurts, that you feel that you could have done more,” she says. Rodriguez says her smart, caring, artistic daughter struggled with depression and several losses prior to her suicide. She was also being bullied on Facebook. Crystal Lake’s park district police chief says tragically, Cynthia is just one of four people under the age of 21 who have committed suicide on park district property in the last two years. Prior to that, there had been none – ever. It set off alarm bells. “It’s startling on our end,” Chief Ronald Lyons says. So, officers recruited WWE star and actor David Otunga to speak to local students about bullying. “Sometimes, that’s all they need, somebody to remind them that it will be OK, there will be a tomorrow, there is hope,” Lucy Rodriguez says. Park officers hope this will only be the beginning of their outreach http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/05/02/northwest-suburbs-grappling-with-teen-suicides/ |
